Why I shoot boudoir.

Alright, so by popular vote, I’ll be talking about why I shoot boudoir in this post. Being honest, this is both a simple an complicated question to answer. I started shooting boudoir around 4-5 years ago, though it didn’t feature in my photography until recently. To answer simply though, I shoot boudoir for two main reasons: Most importantly I love how empowering boudoir can be for the people I take photos of, and I also love how much of a story I can tell with boudoir images. I’ll be sharing a lot of photos from my recent shoot with Lavender Lemon ( https://www.instagram.com/littlelavenderlemon ) in this post since this shoot really combined a lot of who I am as a boudoir photographer.

We are all born so beautiful, the only tragedy is being convinced that we are not.

I think the quote above might truly be one of my favorites. I think it’s important enough that it features on my boudoir sessions page. There is a good reason for that. We all are truly stunning, and I want people to be able to feel that way about themselves. I want people to be able to see the stunning person that I do whenever someone steps in front of my camera, and I find that I can best do that though boudoir. I want each boudoir session (and honestly each photo session) to be an empowering time. I want people to see what I can behind the lens. A truly stunning human.

Telling a story.

I love to tell stories with my images. Much like the one to the left, I love the emotion and softness the image tells. I’ve talked about story telling in images before, so I won’t talk about it too much here. One image on it’s own can tell a powerful story, but in boudoir I like to take series’ to tell a story with movement.

Also, shoutout to Lavender Lemon for sticking with the shot in the rain!

I could talk further, but I think I’ll sum up this post here and let the images speak for themselves. I shoot boudoir for a few reasons, but those are the main two; and if I’m being honest I mainly shoot boudoir because of the empowerment I can see in the people I photograph. It truly makes me happiest when I see someone who walked into a session nervous walk out with confidence, and when someone comes to me with an idea for something that they want to shoot and found me the most comfortable person to shoot with, I feel truly honored.
